Barriers faced by disabled people seeking adequate housing
At the DPAA we aim to achieve the best service possible for our clients. We have through our work and ongoing research identified several issues which create barriers between disabled people and adequate housing. One such barrier are the fees that are required in advance when a person first embarks on a private rental, this can amount to hundreds of pounds. The DPAA are working hard to alieviate this problem by forming good working relationships with local authority housing departments, social services, occupational therapists, the benefits agency and letting agents. We anticipate reporting our findings on this website in due course.
